La Mercè (Festes de la Mercè 2014 From September 18th to 24th) is the festival of the city and a showcase of Catalan traditions, also a unique opportunity to see in action the best street performers and enjoy good free concerts.
Legend has it that the night of September 24, 1218, the Virgin appeared simultaneously to King James I, and San Pedro Nolasco Penyafort San Ramon. The three were asked that would create an order of monks dedicated to saving Christians imprisoned by the Saracens. Those were times of religious war. Centuries later in 1687, Barcelona suffered a plague of locusts, and placed itself in the hands of the Virgin of La Mercè. Once the plague had been overcome, the Council of the City named her patron saint of Barcelona.

La Mercè(este año del 19 al 24 de setiembre) es la Fiesta Mayor de la ciudad de Barcelona. Un escaparate de las tradiciones catalanas y una fantástica oportunidad para disfrutar de buenos conciertos gratuitos y ver en acción a grandes artistas.
Cuenta la leyenda que la noche del 24 de septiembre de 1218, la Virgen se apareció simultáneamente al rey Jaime I, a San Pedro Nolasco y a San Ramón de Penyafort. A los tres les pidió que creasen una orden de monjes dedicados a salvar cristianos encarcelados por los sarracenos. Eran tiempos de guerra religiosa. Siglos más tarde, en 1687, Barcelona sufrió una plaga de langostas y se puso en manos de la Virgen de la Mercè. Acabada la plaga, el Consejo de la Ciudad la nombró patrona de Barcelona.
Hoy, La Mercè es un evento que ocupa festivamente un gran número de espacios públicos de la ciudad. Los tradicionales enanos, gigantes y cabezudos, los ‘Castells’ o los diablos y bestias que salen a pasear por la ciudad. Las calles se llenan con música y alegría para todos. Hoy, La Mercè es el festival de festivales que concentra en pocos días centenares de actividades:
The Harley Davidson fans have an obligatory meeting in Barcelona Harley Days, one of the biggest events dedicated to the American motorcycle brand celebrated in Europe.This year Harleys will take the palatine city from the 5th to the 7th of July, particularly in the Montjuïc exhibition center, in one of the most important motorcycle events of the year.
An estimated total of 21,000 motos and more than one million visitors will attend the event. Remember that the entrance is FREE!!
The next Elvis Day (for the Sunday 7th) is a day dedicated to the king of rock with the best Elvis performances! Besides, the most successful activities of the previous editions are coming back, such as the Demo Rides (driving simulators), the customization contest Custom Bike Show and Guided Tours. Of course, there will be live music with the popular Country Party, where it’s expected to set a new record of participants.
As always, the most anticipated event is the Sunday’s popular Parade of Flags (departure time 11h), a city tour which this year expects about 13,000 motos, spectacular!! And be attentive, because our Ivan will be over there… See you at the Barcelona Harley Days 2013!
Los amantes de las Harley Davidson tienen una cita obligada en Barcelona Harley Days, uno de los mayores eventos dedicados a la marca de motos norteamericana que se celebra en Europa. Este año las Harley tomarán la ciudad condal del 5 al 7 de julio, concretamente en el recinto ferial de Montjuïc, en uno de los eventos moteros más relevantes del año.
Se calcula que acudirán un total de 21.000 motocicletas y más de un millón de visitantes!! Recordad que la entrada es totalmente gratuita.
Una de las actividades musicales de mayor éxito fue el día del Rey del Rock, para el domingo 7 de julio otro Elvis Day con las mejores actuaciones para homenajear al gran Elvis. Y, además, vuelven las actividades de más éxito de las ediciones anteriores como las Demo Rides (simuladores de conducción), el concurso de customización Custom Bike Show y las Rutas Guiadas. Por supuesto, la música en directo no faltará, con la popular Fiesta Country, en la cual se espera batir un nuevo récord de participantes.
Como siempre, el acontecimiento más esperado y vistoso es el popular Desfile de Banderas del domingo (hora de salida 11hrs), un recorrido por la ciudad que este año espera unas 13.000 motos y muchísimo ruido: espectacular!! El festival se celebra en Parc del Fòrum y el precio del abono (los 3días) es de 195€ y la entrada de un solo día, unos 85€ podéis comprarlas en Atrapalo. El miércoles 22 de mayo tendrá lugar la jornada de apertura como parte de la programación de Primavera a la Ciutat y la entrada al recinto será totalmente gratuita. En esta ocasión su centro neurálgico estará localizado en el propio Parc del Fòrum, donde uno de sus escenarios acogerá cinco actuaciones en horario vespertino.
Los británicos The Vaccines, la electrónica de tintes pop de los internacionales Delorean, el pop épico de los prometedores Guards, el jovencísimo dúo The Bots y el garage urgente y melódico de Aliment serán los protagonistas de esta jornada de apertura.
Sónar es el festival de música avanzada y arte multimedia que se celebra durante la tercera semana del mes de junio (este año el 13, 14 y 15 de junio) en diversos espacios de la ciudad. En total, más de 80 mil personas disfrutan de una cuidada programación que combina los grandes nombres de la electrónica actual con un amplio cartel de artistas y dj’s emergentes, líderes de las tendencias musicales y de la creación new media de nuestro tiempo.
