During the last few years, the beaches of Barcelona, and their special features which make them so attractive, have become one of the most popular public areas of the city. Beaches constitute a large open air area where we can come into contact with the sea, the sun and the sand, and all of this is possible on the beaches in Barcelona which are close to home and which can be enjoyed all year round.

The sea has played an important role in making Barcelona an open city, in which peoples and cultures have mixed since ancient times, and the reconstruction of the Maritime Front of the city, begun in the 1980’s, meant a historical change and has contributed to making the beaches part of our daily life.

San Sebastià is the beach most closest to Barcelona city on the Eastern end of the coastline. Together with Barceloneta, it is the oldest and most traditional, with sporting clubs of great relevance for their sea-related activities. All the city beaches a total length of over 4.5 kilometres between the Sant Sebastià and Llevant beaches and are equipped with services for swimmers and users. Also 19 ‘chiringuitos’, 89 showers and 67 public toilets for have funny and don’t worry about anything. Are you ready for a swim?

Barcelona ya prepara sus playas para la temporada de baños

En los últimos años, las playas de Barcelona se han convertido en uno de los principales espacios públicos de nuestra ciudad, con unas características singulares que lo hacen especialmente atractivo. Las playas constituyen un gran espacio al aire libre donde podemos entrar en contacto con el agua del mar, con el sol y con la arena, y todo esto es posible en Barcelona, en unas playas que tenemos muy cerca de casa y de las cuales podemos disfrutar todo el año.

El mar ha ayudado mucho a hacer de nuestra ciudad un lugar abierto, en el que se han mezclado pueblos y culturas desde la antigüedad, y la recuperación del frente marítimo de la ciudad, iniciada en los años ochenta ha significado un cambio histórico y ha contribuido a integrar las playas en nuestra vida cotidiana.

La playa de Sant Sebastià es, junto con la de la Barceloneta, la más antigua y de mayor tradición, con clubes deportivos de gran relevancia por sus actividades relacionadas con el mar. Todas las playas de la ciudad suman una extensión de más de 4,5 kilómetros entre la de San Sebastián y la de Levante y disponen de servicios para acompañar a los bañistas. Además 19 chiringuitos, 89 duchas y 67 aseos públicos para pasarlo en grande y no preocuparnos de nada ¿Preparados para un baño?

Con la llegada del buen tiempo apetece una escapada de sol y playa, y Cataluña cuenta con muchas y muy buenas opciones! Hoy queremos enseñaros uno de los parajes más hermosos de nuestra geografía: La Costa Brava del Baix Empurdà.

El término Costa Brava fue publicado por el periodista Ferran Agulló en 1908. Con esta expresión el periodista quería describir el paisaje agreste y escarpado que caracteriza gran parte de la zona costera dónde la vegetación se funde con el mar.

Ya por la década de 1930, los turistas llenaban las playas de la zona, pero aún se mezclaban con pescadores y agricultores que cultivaban cerca de la costa. Sus habitantes, sus tradiciones y la belleza natural de la región despertaron el interés de artistas y escritores como Marc Chagall, Picasso, Rusiñol o Dalí. Actualmente, la zona aún conserva gran parte de esta esencia antes del cambio que supuso la llegada del turismo.

Las playas de la Costa Brava se caracterizan por la calidad de sus aguas. A muchas de estas se les ha atribuido la Bandera Azul, símbolo inconfundible de agua limpia y libre de contaminación. Otro de los rasgos característicos de la Costa Brava son las pequeñas calas o playas escondidas, rodeadas de vegetación, debido a la erosión del mar sobre los acantilados. Algunas sólo son accesibles por caminos costeros como El Camino de Ronda, un camino que antiguamente se utilizaba para vigilar la costa y prevenir a los pueblos del ataque de piratas, corsarios y vándalos. Este camino es una bonita travesía que va bordeando la costa y pasa por bonitas calas de aguas turquesas donde no podremos perdonar un agradable chapuzón!

Los pueblos de la zona como Pals, Bagur o Perelada mantienen su importante pasado a pesar de su carácter turístico: calles empedradas, edificios medievales, castillos y antiguos fosos reflejan una historia que maravilla a todos los visitantes. Allí encontraréis pequeñas tiendas de artesanía, restaurantes y terrazas para descansar después de un estupendo día de playa.

Some are only accessible by coastal roads as El Camino de Ronda, a road that was once used to guard the coast and prevent the people from attack by pirates, corsairs and vandals. This road is a beautiful journey that goes along the coast and passes through beautiful coves of turquoise water where we can not forgive a nice swim!
