Opened in 1820, the Marsella Bar (map) is the oldest of the city and it was visited by the world famous artists such as Picasso, Dali, Hemingway or Ocaña attracted by the magic of absinthe and its hallucinogenic effects…

With an apparent state of neglect which gives it a bohemian air, the interest of Marsella bar is that it creates a characteristic environment of Raval and probably impossible to export to another area of Barcelona, you have to see it to understand how is our city.

Today due to a conflict between the building owner and the owner of the place, it seems to have the hours counted. But are we talking about a simple bar or a city heritage? The City includes the establishment in its catalog of heritage for its uniqueness, it is not about the furniture cabinets, mirrors and floors somewhat degraded, and lighting wrong, but evocative capacity to another historic moment this local causes.

Although the closure of the Marsella rumor spread like wildfire through the Internet and these days the Marsella is crowded by a mix of curious tourists confused and angry with its potential closure, we do not know how much it will resist, so friends don´t miss the chance to see it!

Puede que sean los ultimos días del bar más emblemático de la ciudad así que en AltiroBarcelona os decimos: tienes que verlo! Con un aparente estado de dejadez que le confiere un aire del todo bohemio, el interés del bar Marsella radica en que crea un tipo de ambiente característico del barrio del Raval y seguramente imposible de exportar a otra zona de Barcelona que tenéis que ver para entender como es nuestra ciudad. 

Hoy debido a un conflicto entre el propietario del edificio y el dueño del local parece tener las horas contadas.¿Pero estamos hablando de un simple bar o de un patrimonio de la ciudad? El Ayuntamiento incluye el establecimiento en su catálogo de patrimonio por su singularidad, pues no se trata del mobiliario de vitrinas, espejos y pavimentos un tanto degradados, e iluminación incorrecta, sino de la capacidad evocadora a otro momento histórico que este local provoca.

Pese a que el rumor del cierre del Marsella corrió como la pólvora por Internet y en estos días el Marsella está abarrotado por una mezcla de curiosos, turistas despistados e indignados con su potencial cierre, no sabemos cuanto tiempo más resistirá, así que amig@s no dejéis escapar la oportunidad de verlo!
