One of the squares that I like most of Barcelona for its urban environment 100% is the Plaça dels Angels in the Raval. Tourists, bohemians and young skaters are mixed between different cultures living in the neighborhood and make the place one of the most entertaining places in the city.

For both natives and visitors, the most striking of the square is the amount of Skaters who skate, jump and do some real cool features. I guess that the city never imagined would become a paradise and undisputed benchmark for skaters worldwide, but it is!

Delimiting the square, one side is the building of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona and the other the ‘Convent dels Angels’, an old but renovated XVI century church which is also part of the museum. Do you know the museum? The MACBA opened the doors in November 1995 and is a museum that does not leave you indifferent. Modern Art with capital letters that will surprise and intrigue you… To learn more, Richard Meier is an American architect who created this building with large windows, open spaces and rationalist style Le Corbusier.

In the Raval district, local people and people from multiple countries live together today. In its streets may be businesses of all nationalities and even trendy shops and new trends (especially in the upper part of the neighborhood). All a perfect cocktail of cultures and in the center of the Boqueria Market surrounded by plenty of bars and restaurants to regain strength to go the route!

In this neighborhood AltiroBarcelona has several apartments as the Rambla del Raval where you can visit in this link, is easily communicated and never seem to sleep … Think that it’s a typical bustling downtown area of a large city, it is not dangerous but (as there are always tourists) better id carefully.

Una de las plazas que más me gusta de Barcelona por su ambiente joven y urbano 100% es la Plaça dels Àngels en el barrio del Raval. Turistas, bohemios y patinadores se mezclan entre las diferentes culturas que conviven en el barrio y convierten el lugar en una de las plazas más entretenidas de la ciudad.

Tanto para autóctonos como visitantes, lo más sorprendente de la plaza es la cantidad de Skaters que patinan, saltan y hacen auténticas virguerias alrededor. Supongo que el ayuntamiento nunca imaginó que acabaría convirtiéndose en todo un paraíso y referente indiscutible para los skaters de todo el mundo, pero así es!

Delimitando la plaza, a un lado está el edificio del Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Barcelona y al otro el ‘Convent dels Àngels’, una antigua pero reformada iglesia del siglo XVI que también forma parte del museo y que da nombre a la Plaza.
¿Conoces el museo? El Macba abrió las puertas en noviembre del 1995 y es un museo que no te deja indiferente. Arte moderno con mayúsculas que te sorprenderá y te intrigará… Si quieres saber más, Richard Meier es el arquitecto norteamericano que creó este edificio de grandes ventanales, espacios abiertos y estilo racionalista Le Corbusier.

En el barrio del Raval, hoy conviven lugareños y gente venida de múltiples países. En sus calles pueden verse comercios de todas las nacionalidades e incluso tiendas de moda y nuevas tendencias (sobre todo en la parte alta del barrio). Todo un perfecto cóctel de culturas y en el centro el Mercado de la Boqueria rodeado de multitud de bares y restaurantes donde recuperar fuerzas para seguir la ruta!

En este barrio AltiroBarcelona tiene varios pisos como por ejemplo el de la Rambla del Raval que podéis visitar en este enlace, está bien comunicado y parece que nunca duerma… Pensar que es un barrio bullicioso típico del centro de una gran ciudad, no es peligroso pero (como siempre hay turistas) mejor ir con cuidado.

Fiestas de Barrio de Sant Antoni

Un año más el animadísimo barrio de Sant Antoni celebra su agitada Festa Major. Y digo agitada porque la programación está totalmente a la altura del día a día de uno de los barrios más activos de la ciudad. Situado en el Eixample izquierda y vecino del Raval es un barrio con mucha vida y que, en los últimos años, más se está revalorizando.

Después de Navidad y durante dos semanas el barrio se viste de largo para sus vecinos. En honor a Sant Antoni Abat, patrón de los animales domésticos y de granja, cada año se celebra la tradicional“Cavalcada dels Tres Tombs” se trata de un desfile de carrozas y carruajes antiguos dentro de la ciudad. Las benediciones de las mascotas de la casa también son divertidas, además de una completísima programación para toda la familia que incluye talleres de cocina, ferias de artesanía, mesas redondas, proyecciones de películas, conciertos al aire libre, aperitivos populares, la tradicional Cursa… y muchas cosas más.

El centro neurálgico del barrio lo constituye el mercado de Sant Antoni, una joya del modernismo construido a finales del siglo XIX. Aunque el mercado está cerrado pendiente de una remodelación es muy popular porque fuera, cada domingo por la mañana, se celebra un mercadillo de libros viejos y material de coleccionista: cromos, revistas, pósters,…

Sant Antoni auna tradición y modernidad, en sus calles es fácil encontrar la típica panadería de barrio y, al lado, la cafetería más cool, desde un bar de tapas al restaurante japonés que sale en todas las guías. Así es, ecléctico y pintoresco!

En Altiro pensamos que puede ser una gran ocasión para aprovechar y tomar una caña en la antigua Fábrica cervecera Moritz. Fundada en 1856 y situada en la Ronda Sant Antoni, 39-43) que, tras siete años de obras, renace como centro neurálgico de la gastronomía, cultura y ocio del barrio. El proyecto ha sido llevado a cabo por el arquitecto Jean Nouvel y es impresionante!

Route of Modernism in Barcelona is a journey to explore the city of the three main Catalan modernist architects Antoni Gaudí (1852-1926), Lluis Domenech i Montaner (1850-1923) and Josep Puig i Cadafalch (1867-1956), who along with other architects made Barcelona the world capital of modernism.

La Ruta del Modernismo de Barcelona es un itinerario para conocer la ciudad de los tres principales arquitectos modernistas catalanes: Antoni Gaudí (1852-1926), Lluís Domènech i Montaner (1850-1923) y Josep Puig i Cadafalch (1867-1956), que junto con otros arquitectos hicieron de Barcelona la capital mundial del modernismo.
