La Mercè (Festes de la Mercè 2014 From September 18th to 24th) is the festival of the city and a showcase of Catalan traditions, also a unique opportunity to see in action the best street performers and enjoy good free concerts.

Legend has it that the night of September 24, 1218, the Virgin appeared simultaneously to King James I, and San Pedro Nolasco Penyafort San Ramon. The three were asked that would create an order of monks dedicated to saving Christians imprisoned by the Saracens. Those were times of religious war. Centuries later in 1687, Barcelona suffered a plague of locusts, and placed itself in the hands of the Virgin of La Mercè. Once the plague had been overcome, the Council of the City named her patron saint of Barcelona.

The last blast of summer before the autumn starts, the streets are filled with music and joy for all. La Mercè is the festival of festivals, where, in just a few days there are hundreds of activities like these:

• BAM(Barcelona Musical Action): to hear new sounds
• Mercè Arts de Carrer (MAC): circus arts, dance and street arts.
• Festival of tradition: human castles, bigheads, giants and all the festive beasts of the city.
• The Fire Festival: all kinds of sparks from the musical fireworks to the Fire Run…

The Voll-Damm 46 International Jazz Festival of Barcelona comes loaded with stellar names. Started last October 17th with the Jean-Philippe Guy  at the Sala Harlem and Soweto Gospel Choir will culminate on December 19th in El Palau de la Música catalana.

Between these two dates (here you can see the program) a music stream flood Barcelona. With a lineup that includes performances by Émily Parisien-Vincent Peirani, torun Eriksen, Dani de Morón-Aaron Diehl, Wayne Shorter Quartet. Concerts that make this festival of reference within the European festivals fall in the genre.

The recent twinning with the Italian Umbria Jazz Festival brings a better representation of dynamic artists from the Italian scene, among which are the trumpeters Enrico Rava and Paolo Fresu or pianist Stefano Bollani

Barcelona, sol, playa y… música!! Sónar y Primavera Sound. Desde hace más de una década, Barcelona se ha consolidado como uno de los platos fuertes de las citas musicales en el mundo gracias a la calidad del Sónar y el Primavera Sound que, durante los días del festival, convierten la ciudad en verdadera capital de la música.

Del 22 al 26 de mayo preparaos para vivir lo mejor del pop, el rock y las tendencias más underground de la música de baile con el festival San Miguel Primavera Sound.

Este festival se celebra en Barcelona desde 2001, se ha consolidado como otro referente de festival urbano y es percibido en todos los rincones del globo como un acontecimiento ineludible.

Pixies, Aphex Twin, Neil Young, Sonic Youth, Pulp, Portishead, Pet Shop Boys, Arcade Fire, Pavement, Yo La Tengo, Lou Reed, My Bloody Valentine, El-P, Pulp, Patti Smith, Franz Ferdinand, Public Enemy, Television, Devo, Enrique Morente, The White Stripes, Wilco, Tindersticks, PJ Harvey, Shellac, Fuck Buttons, Swans, Melvins, Psychic TV o Spiritualized son sólo una pequeña muestra de los muchísimos artistas que han pasado por los escenarios del festival a lo largo de su trayectoria.

El festival se celebra en Parc del Fòrum y el precio del abono (los 3días) es de 195€ y la entrada de un solo día, unos 85€ podéis comprarlas en Atrapalo. El miércoles 22 de mayo tendrá lugar la jornada de apertura como parte de la programación de Primavera a la Ciutat y la entrada al recinto será totalmente gratuita. En esta ocasión su centro neurálgico estará localizado en el propio Parc del Fòrum, donde uno de sus escenarios acogerá cinco actuaciones en horario vespertino.

Los británicos The Vaccines, la electrónica de tintes pop de los internacionales Delorean, el pop épico de los prometedores Guards, el jovencísimo dúo The Bots y el garage urgente y melódico de Aliment serán los protagonistas de esta jornada de apertura.

Sónar es el festival de música avanzada y arte multimedia que se celebra durante la tercera semana del mes de junio (este año el 13, 14 y 15 de junio) en diversos espacios de la ciudad. En total, más de 80 mil personas disfrutan de una cuidada programación que combina los grandes nombres de la electrónica actual con un amplio cartel de artistas y dj’s emergentes, líderes de las tendencias musicales y de la creación new media de nuestro tiempo. MUTEK, Montreal festival of digital music and media art, and has proven to be one of the most important festivals of its kind worldwide. After organizing events in Europe, U.S., Chile and Mexico, MUTEK celebrates its fourth edition in Barcelona!

Micro_MUTEK.ES 2013 will take place from 6 to 9 February 2013 in Barcelona and will present 23 artists / projects from 9 different nationalities, including 5 premieres from Jon Hopkins (UK), Jeff Mills (U.S.), Monolake A / V Surround (DE), Kuedo & MFO (UK) and Vessel (UK) which reflects the objective of the organization of content and propose original and diverse programming.

This new release will have, as usual, two sides, the daytime and nighttime: day activities will be shared between the Convent of San Agustín and The Station (Estació de França). This space called DIGI_SECTION completes the night of the festival program, encouraging dialogue and exchange, as well as discussions with industry professionals invited … and is free to the general public.

At night, you will have to move to Nitsa (Apolo) and Moog. Popes found techno dub as Monolake or the sound of Detroit of Jeff Mills (presenting a new set of 5 hours), combined with emerging values as Raime and encouragement dark electronic industrial, atmospheres hypnagogic that make Laurel Halo or techno of Vessel combined with projects planned and developed in Barcelona, as the Venezuelan Cardopusher or the performance of the Portuguese Boris Chimp 504.

MUTEK, el festival de Montreal de música digital y media art, ya ha demostrado ser uno de los festivales más importantes del mundo en su género. Después de haber organizado eventos en Europa, EEUU, Chile y México, MUTEK celebra su cuarta edición en Barcelona!

Micro_MUTEK.ES 2013 tendrá lugar del 6 al 9 de febrero de 2013 en Barcelona y presentará 23 artistas/proyectos de 9 nacionalidades diferentes, incluyendo 5 estrenos de la talla de Jon Hopkins (UK), Jeff Mills (US), Monolake A/V Surround (DE), Kuedo & MFO (UK) y Vessel (UK) lo que refleja el objetivo de la organización de proponer contenido y programación original y diverso.
